Elizabeth Lanier McCormack, CFP®
Financial Advisor, Partner
Elizabeth McCormack is a CERTIFIED FINANCIAL PLANNERTM professional, and her ultimate goal when working with clients is to thoroughly cover all variables important to the clients' overall plan. For some, this means holistic financial planning for a family. For others, the focus is those areas unique to business owners, and for many clients, both family planning and business planning come into play.
Elizabeth earned her Bachelor of Science in Biology from Augusta State University in 1997 and her Master of Science in Environmental Studies in 2001 from the Medical University of South Carolina and the College of Charleston. Elizabeth maintained her affiliation with the Medical University, where she worked in Finance and Administration. She oversaw the purchase of all building and property, general liability, and professional liability insurance contracts as well as insurance claims under these contracts.
Upon deciding to follow in her father’s footsteps in the financial planning and investment management world, Elizabeth obtained the necessary securities and insurance licenses, worked for a short time with her father’s firm, and then took a position as a broker with Morgan Stanley until February of 2013, at which time she returned to her father’s practice. She thoroughly enjoys working alongside the most valuable mentor she could have, and realizes what an advantage she has had having been trained by a parent who wants the best for her while at the same time expecting the best from her.
Elizabeth loves the dynamic nature of her work, and especially enjoys all the different people she gets to know and help. She considers it a pleasure and an honor to have the opportunity to hear people’s histories, get a sense of who they are and where they see their and their loved ones’ lives going, and to devise plans to help get them there. She brings together the planning details, including investments, income sources, insurance contracts, and estate and tax planning strategies, and is able to show all manner of scenarios with varying market conditions, changes in spending levels, etc. The MoneyGuide Elite program she uses allows clients to test their plans whenever they wish, and to alter the variables in any way they choose to see the outcomes that are produced. Elizabeth has found clients greatly appreciate this process, whether it verifies they are on the right track, or reveals opportunities for improvement. She really gets a sense of fulfillment from solving the puzzles in clients' financial lives, and helping them make the most of their assets.
Elizabeth attends Saint Mary on-the-Hill Catholic Church with her husband Patrick and their children. When not working, she enjoys reading, exercising, spending time with her husband, children, and Australian Shepherd, as well as entertaining family and friends.
